River’s Room

May 27, 2007 · 3 Comments

After some wonderful baby showers and a few trips to Babies R Us, much of River’s room is now complete. Kyle and I have had lots of fun putting it together, but the final addition is still to come, anxiously squirming around in my belly. We are so excited, and a little scared (I could do without the labor part!) but we just can’t wait to meet him!

I had a dream last night that he was full of dark hair with chubby cheeks and blue eyes. He’ll probably come out bald with brown eyes, but it’s fun to imagine!

Have a wonderful memorial day weeekend everyone, and for all those in Boulder, have an awesome Bolder Boulder day run! I wish more than anything (well, almost anything:) I could be there!

34 Weeks

May 20, 2007 · 3 Comments

Well, I promised a picture of the belly, so here it is. How is this even possible???

34 weeks

Oh, and for all pregnant women out there- one piece of advice that I have recently taken and hopefully will again before River pops out- get a pedicure! Boy, having someone rub your feet and make them look pretty is better now than it ever will be again…. even though you can barely see them! :)

Kid Friendly House

May 18, 2007 · 3 Comments

Today i got into a bike accident with Inu (yes i was riding my bike with my dog). I got pretty scratched up on that fall. After stumbling home i went through our medicine cabinet and found that our bandage collection is down right pitiful. The first line of comfort in a child after getting hurt, the Band Aid, and we’re practically out. It occurred to me that we’ve worked hard at making our house “Kid Proof”, but we’ve never even thought about making it “Kid Friendly”. WE NEED BAND AIDS! So i stumbled my bloody self to the grocery store and purchased some bandages. They don’t have spiderman printed on them, but it’s a start.

Don’t worry little River, we’ll get the hang of the whole parenting thing some day… hopefully sooner than later.

Here’s me trying to smile.

Last one standing

May 17, 2007 · 1 Comment

Well, after having so many wonderful pregnant women work with me on a day to day basis, I am finally the last one here. All have had the cutest little babies in the past month and a half, and all that is left at CMS is me! That just means this whole labor thing is getting closer and closer, and that this baby is going to be a part of this world on it’s own very soon!

Otherwise, I feel as if I have had a very easy and wonderful pregnancy, but now am finally starting to really “feel it”. He’s getting REALLY big in this belly and taking up a lot of room. Eating meals is actually becoming more difficult because my stomach is squished like a pancake. With the warm weather comes swelling, and these Braxton Hicks contractions sure take the wind out of me (but thank goodness they don’t hurt!) I’m now starting to understand why people say that the third trimester is hard! I guess I should feel very lucky that it’s taken this long…

I’ll get a picture of my monstrous belly online soon…

Cinco de Mayo Shower

May 6, 2007 · 2 Comments

Yesterday was a fun day with friends here in Minnesota. Emily Kahnert and Jenia Strom put on a great baby shower for me at our home on a fun Mexican holiday. The decorations were so much fun and the food was great, (this baby LOVES mexican!) but most of all it was just wonderful to see and spend time with good friends. I feel so lucky! This kid will grow up with a very extensive and loving family in both Colorado AND here… :)

Third Trimester Stress

May 4, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Well, last night at my Middle School we had our first annual talent show. My club, along with my friends, Robin’s club put it on. Needless to say (because this IS middle school aged kids!) we did most of it ourselves. It was an incredible success and we raised tons of money for a mom who’s daughter recently passed away from cancer and went to our school. I was very proud but during the process realized how difficult it is to be under a lot of stress during the last part of your pregnancy! There were a number of VERY stressful moments where I told Robin to be prepared to help me give birth because I was sure I was going to go into labor! Anyway, even with all of that crazyness, everything turned out great. It was fun. :)

Below are some funny picts of me in one of my favorite pregnancy shirts at school. I like to tell my students that I have the whole world on my belly. They think that’s funny coming from a geography teacher. :) The other pic is of my friend Dave and I… he just wishes he was so cool…
