The best laid plans…

get pooped on.

Today, the US state department issued a statement that all adoptions from Nepal are indefinitely suspended. Basically, if you don’t have a referral, then there is no way in any near future that you will adopt from Nepal. Our dream of adopting a baby girl from Nepal is over.

2 years is a lot of time to get attached, even if it is just to a dream. I am not quite sure how to deal with this.

I also read today that Rwanda’s time for adoption is getting longer~ a year, or maybe much, much more.

So, what will we do? Maybe nothing. Maybe something. Not sure. But right now we will take a moment to mourn, and sit, and think, and feel for those orphans in Nepal that could have had a home and now that option is gone. And I will also mourn for our family and our little girl who can’t be a part of it any longer.

  1. OH, Erin..I’m very sorry to hear this…I Love you and will keep you all in my heart during this time. Love you guys…

  2. It just seems so wrong to have all these needy children held back from such loving and willing families…. hard to understand. We are mourning with you at this time, but believe their will be a day when your beautiful family grows with another blessed child. Our love and continued prayers to you all.

  3. I’m in the same boat. What the DOS did say was that they won’t process any children who are listed as “abandoned”, but they will continue to process those children who are listed as “orphaned/parental rights terminated”. How many are there? How long does this mean we’ll wait? Or do we pick up and change countries while we can? Lots of decisions to be made.
